The Island of Jaguanum is a pristine tropical island with ten beaches. There are walking trails between the beaches. The island is hilly, and most of the vegetation is composed of the untouched tropical rainforest. Electricity reached the island in 2011. The permanent residents are local fishermen. There are also weekend residents who are mostly from Rio. There are neither shops nor hotels on the island. A few beach restaurants serving local fish specialties exist on the next beaches.
