The two well known places to stay in Uruguay are Colonia, an old Portuguese town only 50mins by ferry across the Rio de la Plata from Buenos Aires, and Punta del Este - known as the playground of the rich and famous over the southern hemisphere summer. Another interesting place worth considering for a short visit is the Capital Montevideo.
