Grupo Santander (SAN.MC, STD.N) is the number one financial group in European countries operating with Euro in terms of market capitalization, and is also one of the leading financial groups in the world. In the first half of 2006, Santander recorded liquid profits of US$ 1.4 billion in the region, 21% higher than the same period of 2005.
